Greenwich Builder Wins 3 HOBI Awards

GREENWICH, CT -From DeRosa Builders: DeRosa Builders, the Greenwich based luxury construction and remodeling company, ended 2017 on a high note after receiving several industry awards. The DeRosa team accepted three Home Building Industry Awards (HOBIs) at the Home Builders & Remodelers Association (HBRA) Connecticut’s Annual HOBI Gala. Their 2017 HOBI awards were for ‘Best Remodel $1-2M’, ‘Best Remodel $2-3M’ and ‘Outstanding Special Purpose Room’. Company founder Anthony DeRosa said he was grateful to receive such high accolades from the HBRA. “To win not one, but three HOBI awards is really exciting. The HOBI Awards are Connecticut’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in home construction. I could not be any prouder of my team and of the great work we’ve done this past year.”

The 2017 HOBI awards, that DeRosa Builders received, were for homes in both Greenwich and Riverside. The same Greenwich home earned two of the three awards, explained Michael DeRosa. “The ‘Outstanding Special Purpose Room’ HOBI was for a luxurious indoor pool room, fit with changing rooms and a sauna. For this same home we also received the ‘Best Residential Remodel $2-3M’.” Michael explained that they didn’t think they could top last year’s event where they were awarded one HOBI and also received the HBRA Fairfield County’s Builder of the Year award. “After the 2017 awards we now have nine prestigious HOBI awards. It really represents how we continue to grow and raise the bar in our industry and as luxury builders and remodelers in Connecticut.”

The Greenwich home that won DeRosa Builders two 2017 HOBIs is a completely renovated 10,200 sq. ft. Georgian, brick mansion. Built in 1938, special care was taken to provide a luxury remodel for this home, while maintaining the timeless characteristics of the past architecture and design. Its courtyards, patio areas, built-in-bbq area, statues, pergola and other exterior additions were all hand selected to match the existing weathered look of the home. On the interior, architect Keith Kroeger and his team drew up a plan to renovate nearly every inch, yet keep the quaint feel of the 40’s. The entry way with a two story spiral staircase leads you to rooms decorated in wallpaper, tapestry, repurposed door hardware, curved windows, natural stone, hidden doors, aged and painted brick, and a luxurious indoor pool fit with changing rooms and a sauna. Decorated by the B&C design team out of Manhattan, all of the selections in the home were selected to keep the integrity and environment of the home’s past.

The DeRosa Builders’ 2017 HOBI award for the ‘Best Residential Remodel $1M-$2M’ was for a near teardown of a 6,600 square foot Riverside home. Designed by architect Mockler Taylor, the massively open floor plan required countless structural steel, fasteners and straps to allow for such an open space. Oversized walk in showers, large closets, and spacious bedrooms are located around the long catwalks that overlook the first floor. A large sitting room with a full wet bar and large gas fireplace highlight one of the great spaces to gather in the house. In the basement, a walk in wine closet, movie projector, guest bedroom and additional laundry space accent the open playroom. The back patio offers yet more areas to relax with a pergola, covered patio with gas fireplace, a pool and a beautifully landscaped yard.
