Greenwich Choral Society In the Time of Pandemic

Group rehearsals and public concerts are suspended, but virtual options are available for listeners.

Press release from Greenwich Choral Society:

July 28, 2020

With the imperative for quarantine and social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greenwich Choral Society has suspended group rehearsals and public concerts during the crisis. While we are responding to the need for safety for our members and for our audiences, we are acutely aware that the temporary loss of live performances of choral music in our community has its own price.

To address the need for choral music in this time of isolation, the Greenwich Choral Society has embarked on an ambitious effort to create virtual concerts that will be available to our many friends, to our supporters and to all who treasure choral music. Through the application of a computer model that will combine the efforts of our individual choristers into a magnificent virtual full performance, the Greenwich Choral Society will be heard again through electronic media such as YouTube and Facebook.

In addition, we are opening our weekly Zoom online rehearsals to any in the general public who would like to find out more about creating choral music in this time of pandemic. We would appreciate being listed in your Community Calendar for the Zoom rehearsals every Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9 PM, until December 15. The rehearsals are free. Those interested are encouraged to contact us by email at admin@greenwichchoralsociety.org for further details.
