GREENWICH,CT—Following the tragic death of New Haven firefighter Ricardo Torres Jr. on Wednesday morning, many departments from around the state have offered condolences to the New Haven community.

The Greenwich Fire Department posted this message on Facebook Wednesday morning:

"We learned of the incident in New Haven this morning. Our thoughts are with the New Haven Fire Department today. We're all connected in some way or another with the fire service," GFD Assistant Chief, Brian Koczak, said to Patch on Wednesday.

Torres was killed after New Haven firefighters responded to a house fire around 12:45 a.m. early Wednesday. One other firefighter, Lt. Samod Rankins, was critically injured and is in the hospital.
