Greenwich Girl Scouts Celebrate Diversity for World Thinking Day!
Every year on February 22nd Girl Scouts around the world celebrate international friendship with World Thinking Day 2020.

Every year on February 22nd Girl Scouts around the world celebrate international friendship with World Thinking Day 2020. This year’s theme was Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Greenwich Girl Scouts held their celebration, with over 100 girls attending, on Saturday, February 1 at the Greenwich YWCA. “Rainbow Fun on Thinking Day” was organized and led by local High School level troops for fellow Girl Scouts as young as 5 years old.
The older Girl Scouts guided the elementary and middle-school participants through the educational activities and explained the symbolism to help expand their understanding of the concepts of inclusion, and promoting diversity. One African game they played used teamwork to cross a simulated river illustrating the need for a diversity of abilities to succeed as a group.
During dinner one high school troop presented healthy eating with a rainbow of vegetables, and the older girls watched an original film on female empowerment, created by a fellow high school Girl Scout. All participants earned the World Thinking Day badge and finished the day celebrating friendship with swimming, crafts and a glow-in-the-dark dance.
