In response, the hospital has established a "COVID-19 Employee Disaster Relief Fund" to support those frontline workers. Officials said the O'Malley Family Foundation has not only donated $500,000 to launch the new fund, but has also committed to doubling each additional dollar contributed.
"Greenwich Hospital is profoundly grateful to our frontline heroes who, thrust into the epicenter of Connecticut and Westchester County's COVID-19 pandemic, met this challenge and worked tirelessly for our patients and their families," Greenwich Hospital President Diane Kelly said in a statement. "Every healthcare professional and all support staff, from the nursing assistant and respiratory therapist to environmental services and transport, selflessly committed themselves to the demands of this crisis."

According to the hospital, the new fund will provide assistance to employees of Greenwich Hospital, as well as other frontline employees from across Yale New Haven Health who traveled to the hospital to help after the facility received its first COVID-19 patient in March.
"It is the intent of Greenwich Hospital to continue to show our employees that we are committed to caring for the caregiver and frontline workers," Kelly said.
