"Good leadership is not necessarily all that difficult during the good times, but exemplary leadership is required during extremely difficult times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. L’escale, the management team and staff have achieved that status," the release reads.
The Everest Leadership Academy has an ongoing relationship with the town through their work with the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.
"It gives us great pleasure to recognize L'escale and bestow upon them our highest honor for leadership excellence," The Everest Leadership Academy CEO Ray Sozzi Sr. said in a news release. "This award is a testament to the commitment and ingenuity L'escale and its staff have shown throughout the past year, and the leadership skills it took to ensure their customers a five-star dining experience during the pandemic."
David Fletcher, director of operations at L'escale, spoke positively about the recognition.
"It is always an honor to get this kind of recognition by our peers and incredible organizations like The Everest Leadership Academy," Fletcher said in a news release. "This past year has been a very difficult one for all restaurant businesses and every member of the L'escale staff has worked tremendously hard to offer continued impeccable food and service, which our patrons have become accustomed to."
In recognition of this award, First Selectman Fred Camillo will attend an award ceremony at the restaurant on April 27, at 10:30 a.m., to express his support for local Greenwich businesses and the exceptional work and commitment they have shown over the past year.
"In a year for the history books, many businesses stepped up to the unprecedented challenge of these modern times," Camillo said in a news release. "L'escale was one of those businesses that not only survived the global pandemic, but provided residents and patrons with an opportunity to dine out in a safe manner when so many people were hesitant to do so. The beautiful waterside restaurant also kept employees busy at a time when bank accounts were depleted and cash flows dangerously low. We salute L'escale for standout leadership in one of the most difficult and unpredictable times in world history."
