Greenwich School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Greenwich is August 31. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Greenwich Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/28: First Day for All Teachers
• 8/29: PLD
• 8/30: Grade 6 and 9 Orientation, Early Release
• 8/31: First Day for All Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/21: No School (Rosh Hashanah)
• 9/27: Early Release for Students (Teacher PLD)

October

• 10/18: Early Release for Students (Teacher PLD)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (PLD)
• 11/22: Early Release
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Recess)

December

• 12/7: Elementary Early Release (Conferences)
• 12/12: Elementary Early Release (Conferences)
• 12/14: Elementary Evening Conferences
• 12/25 - 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/2: School Resumes
• 1/15: No School for Students (MLK, Jr. Day)
• 1/24: Early Release for Students (Teacher PLD) - Moved to 1/31 if Conflict with GHS Midterms

February

• 2/12 - 2/16: No School (Winter Recess)
• 2/19: No School (President's Day)

March

• 3/14: Early Release for Students (Teacher PLD)
• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

April

• 4/9 - 4/13: No School (Spring Recess)
• 4/25: Early Release for Students (Teacher PLD)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/20: GHS Graduation (Tentative), Last Day for Grade 6 (Includes 5 Snow Days)
• 6/21: Last Day for Students (Includes 5 Snow Days), Early Release
• 6/25: Last Day for Staff (Includes 5 Snow Days)
