Greenwich Teen Catches Yankees Player's Milestone Home Run Ball
The homer in Wednesday night's game against the rival Red Sox also gave the Bombers the lead.
GREENWICH, CT — Will Clemens, a 16-year-old Greenwich High School student, caught Brett Gardner's grand slam home run ball Wednesday night, which also was the New York Yankees veteran's 100th homer.
And without a second thought, the teen returned it to Gardner, according to Yankees clubhouse reporter Meredith Marakovits.
Fans in the bleachers told him not to return it, but because he did, he and the three friends he saw the game with from the high school all got to meet Gardner, receive souvenir balls autographed by the veteran Yankee and also got a tour of the clubhouse.

The home run ball hold special significance for Gardner. Not only was it his 100th home run (which gave the Yankees the lead and eventual win over the rival Boston Red Sox), it also elevated him into an elite club in Yankees history.
Only Gardner and beloved former Yankees Captain Derek Jeter have notched at least 100 home runs and 250 stolen bases with the team, according to the YES Network.

Will Clemens, 16, caught Gardner’s 100th HR ball. Told me fans told him not to give it back but he had no intention of keeping it. He and his 3 friends from Greenwich High all received a signed Gardner ball and will get tour of clubhouse #yankees

Only two players have 100+ HR and 250+ SB with the #Yankees. One is the Captain, and the other is this homegrown career Yankee. pic.twitter.com/WJNdRT5kfN
