Greenwich Town Party 2021: Tentative New Date Announced
The 10th annual Greenwich Town Party was originally scheduled to take place in May 2021 but has now been rescheduled for later in the year.

GREENWICH, CT — The 10th annual Greenwich Town Party will no longer take place May 29, event organizers announced Tuesday. Instead, the popular large-scale event has tentatively been re-scheduled for Sept. 4.
In an announcement, event organizers said they are working with town and state officials to follow appropriate health safety guidelines and to confirm the ability to move forward with the new September date. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

GTP co-president Ray Rivers said the date was tentatively moved to September pending local and state guidelines.
"We want to make sure everyone knows that if they purchased tickets in 2020, they will be honored in 2021," Rivers said to Patch. "On behalf of the GTP board, we would like to thank the Greenwich community for their continued patience, generous support and endless enthusiasm for our annual celebration.”

First Selectman Fred Camillo spoke positively Tuesday about the event returning this year despite the move to September.
"The return of the Greenwich Town Party is a sign that as a community, as a state and as a nation, we are continuing the gradual return to what life was like before the COVID-19 pandemic," Camillo said to Patch. "The town party is emblematic of how our varying constituencies who live in Greenwich come together to celebrate the town and life in general."
Camillo also noted he was confident that, in light of the past year, many residents are looking forward to the annual concert's return.
"I have every confidence," Camillo said, "that the concert organizers, in collaboration with our health, parks and recreation, police and fire departments, and GEMS, will ensure that public health and safety guidelines will be observed. It is my hope that by early September, the vast majority of residents will have received a [coronavirus] vaccine, thus helping to further reduce the spread of this deadly virus."
The first selectman also expressed gratitude toward Barbara and Ray Dalio for "their continued support of this event that generates such happiness and joy among our residents, especially coming on the heels of this deadly pandemic."
The annual event typically attracts thousands to Roger Sherman Baldwin Park and features Grammy Award-winning musicians and fan-favorite local bands. Previous years' lineups featured Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Beach Boys, Eric Clapton and Paul Simon.
Mumford & Sons and Zac Brown Band were announced as the 2020 event's headliners prior to its cancelation. Event organizers said Tuesday the 2021 musical line-up will be announced soon.
"Event organizers thank the community for their continued patience, generous support and endless enthusiasm for the annual celebration," Tuesday's announcement reads.
Event organizers noted there will not be a 2021 community ticket lottery, as all community tickets were purchased in 2020 and will be honored in 2021. If ticket holders are not able to attend the 2021 event, they will be eligible for a full refund.
