Town officials said the Greenwich Train Station building will reopen to the public this week at the request of Metro-North Railroad.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Train Station building will reopen to the public Thursday at 6 a.m., town officials announced Wednesday. The decision was made "at the request of Metro-North Railroad," officials said in the announcement.

Metro-North will have staff available Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to assist commuters, officials said. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"As more businesses and public facilities such as the Greenwich train station reopen, it is imperative that we continue to maintain social distancing as much as possible," First Selectman Fred Camillo said in a statement. "When that isn't possible, face masks should be worn."
