Hurricane Dorian: Here's How, When It Will Impact CT Today
The powerful hurricane will move to the south and east of CT tonight and these are the impacts we can expect from this storm.

CONNECTICUT — It's Friday and that means Hurricane Dorian is expected to impact the state late tonight and early Saturday. The good news is that Dorian's track hasn't changed much the past few days and the once powerful category 5 hurricane is still expected to pass well to the south and east of Connecticut.
This means the impacts from Dorian will be minimal to Connecticut. The immediate Connecticut coast will see the biggest impacts because it is the area closest to the storm. The entire state is expected to see some rain, increased wind gusts and at the coast there are some flooding concerns.
The National Weather Service says, "Tropical Cyclone Dorian passes well south and east of the region today and tonight. Rain chances increase today and tonight, due to Dorian and an upper level disturbance that approaches from the west. With increasing easterly winds and cloudy skies today, temperatures will remain cooler than normal, peaking around 70 degrees. Any impacts from Dorian will be confined to coastal sections of the Atlantic coast line with dangerous rip currents, high surf, and the potential for minor coastal flooding.

"The storm pulls away late tonight and Saturday. Any rain ends, and gusty northeast winds shift around to the northwest. Sunshine returns Saturday, as temperatures rise closer to seasonal norms, middle to upper 70s."
Winds may gust up to 30 mph at times as Dorian moves past Connecticut.

For the coast of Fairfield and New Haven counties, a Coastal Flood Advisory, has been issued from 5 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday.
"Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 to locally 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding."
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Dress warmly and take your umbrella today! Cool temperatures with highs only in the 60s to about 70 around noon and then the temperature will drop during the afternoon. Some rain is expected to move in around or just after lunch time today! Rain and wind overnight tonight ending tomorrow morning. This is as hurricane Dorian passes by to our south. Also, watch for coastal flooding at high tide this evening. Some sun midday tomorrow still windy with highs in the 70s. A quick shower possible Saturday evening, not much. Sunny and 70s on Sunday!"
