Less Than 500 Residents Still Without Power In Greenwich
Hundreds of residents are still without power and some roads are still blocked a week after Tropical Storm Isaias' path through town.

GREENWICH, CT — Less than 400 customers are still without power and a little over a dozen roads are still completely blocked a week after Tropical Storm Isaias' path through Greenwich.
According to the Eversource's outage map, a little over 380 Greenwich residents are still without power as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. That number is down significantly from the more than 7,000 residents left without power immediately following the storm last week.
As of Tuesday morning, 15 roads in town are still completely blocked, according to a list compiled by the town's Emergency Operations Center. There are also 57 roads that are still partially blocked as of 11:30 a.m. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

In an update provided Monday, police said the town made "good progress" in clearing roadways, removing trees and restoring power over the weekend, and the Emergency Operations Center's top priority is total restoration of power to residents.
"The town government continues to advocate with Eversource and the other utility companies for the resources to address our issues," police said in a statement Monday. "The town of Greenwich will continue this week to emphasize the restoration of crucial services to our residents and businesses and seek a return to normalcy as soon as possible."

In addition to the Public Safety Complex's atrium, the town has opened a second cooling and charging station at the Greenwich Senior Center, located at 299 Greenwich Avenue. The new station will be open Monday-Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents are asked to wear a face mask and maintain proper social distancing while using the facility. There will not be any food service or restroom facilities available at the center.
Police have also been performing welfare checks at various locations throughout town. Anyone who needs Greenwich police to check on an elderly or vulnerable resident is asked to call 203-622-8004.
The damage caused by the storm was deemed significant enough that First Selectman Fred Camillo declared a local state of emergency last week as the town worked to clear hazards from the town's roads.
