GREENWICH, CT— Police gave more details Thursday morning on the child who was struck by a car in Cos Cob on May 18.

According to Capt. Mark Zuccerella, the incident occurred in a private parking lot around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A vehicle was exiting a building and came into contact with a child, who was in the parking lot. It's unknown what the child saw or was doing in the lot.

"This was at a slow speed and the operator did not see anyone," Zuccerella said. "The child’s height was of such that the operator was unable to see him. The operator felt a bump and stopped."

The child then fell backwards and struck his head on the pavement. Officers arrived on scene and found the child crying, but there were no obvious injuries other than a small laceration to the back of the child's head, Zuccerella said. The child was transported to Stamford Hospital.

"We do not have the final injuries for the child at this time, but from what we can ascertain they appear to be minor cuts from contact with pavement.," Zuccerella said.
