New Data Shows Just How Mild February Has Been For CT
Temperatures in parts of CT are above normal so far this month, according to the Regional Climate Center. Will it last?
CONNECTICUT — Temperatures in Connecticut have been much warmer than normal so far this month, with averages of more than 4 degrees above normal in Hartford and more than 6 degrees warmer in Bridgeport, according to new information released by the Northeast Regional Climate Center.
All 35 major climate sites tracked by the agency were warmer than normal, with temperatures in Allentown, Pennsylvania, among the highest in the region above normal. There, temperatures have been 9.7 degrees above normal between Feb. 1 and Feb. 15.
In Bridgeport, temperatures have been 6.5 degrees above normal within that same time frame. While the normal temperature in Bridgeport for the first half of February is 31.4 degrees, it has averaged 37.9 degrees for the first 15 days of February 2020.

In Hartford, the normal temperature for the same time frame is 28.3 degrees, but this year temperatures have been nearly 5 degrees warmer at 33.2 for the first half of the month.
Snowfall is well below normal, too, the data shows.

In Connecticut, snowfall for the first 15 days in February is several inches below normal. In Bridgeport, for example, 4.2 inches usually falls in that period. This year: none.
Hartford has also received significantly less snow in this time period; while the city usually receives 6.5 inches of snow, this year it has received just 0.4 inches in the first half of February, a departure of more than 6 inches.
