New Head Coach Named As 3 Others Step Down At Greenwich School

Three head coaches have stepped down and a new one has been named at Greenwich High School.

GREENWICH, CT — Three head coaches have stepped down and a new one has been named at Greenwich High School this week. The school's athletics director, Gus Lindine, said in an email that Mike Mora, Joe Kelly and Betsy Underhill have stepped down as head coaches of baseball, boys rugby and girls tennis, respectively.

Additionally, Tara Clough was named head coach for the school's girls lacrosse team. She replaces Rachel Vallarelli, who resigned at the end of last season, according to a statement from the school's athletic department.

For the last five seasons, Clough was the head lacrosse coach at Sacred Heart Greenwich. During her time there, she led the team to FAA Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. This year's team finished the season 18-1, and she had an overall record of 72-19.

Clough began her coaching career as volunteer assistant lacrosse coach while attending graduate school at Boston College. She has also been a junior varsity and freshman coach at New Canaan High School and has coached many club and youth teams.

She was recently the co-director of the Grizzlies Summer Academy and is currently a coach with the Connecticut Grizzlies Club.

As a student-athlete at New Canaan High School, Clough was a standout lacrosse and field hockey player. She continued her athletic career at the University of Notre Dame, where she was the lacrosse team's captain.
