Nor'easter, 50-MPH Winds Expected To Impact Connecticut Today
The National Weather Service releases an updated timeline on when Connecticut can expect the worst of the stormy weather today.

CONNECTICUT — An offshore Nor'easter will have significant impacts on our weather today and to a lesser extent on Friday. Connecticut can count on another inch or inch and a half of rain today and tonight, and winds that may gust up to 50 mph at times, especially in the New London County area where a Wind Advisory has been issued.
The National Weather Service says we can expect some light rain showers this morning but the heavier and steadier rain is expected "later this afternoon into this evening."
"The winds will increase today resulting in gusts up to 50 mph across immediate eastern coastal sections, with gusts mainly between 30 and 40 mph elsewhere," according to the weather service.

"The rain is expected to taper off later tonight and into Friday as the storm will begin to gradually move to the east. The winds will also begin to decrease into Friday. Overall, an additional inch to
an inch and a half is expected east of the New York City metro, with amounts lowering quickly further west across the area. Coastal flooding is also a possibility, and expected across some
coastal areas during times of high tide through Friday.
"The storm will then push further away into the weekend with clouds lingering along with some breaks of sun. Temperatures after averaging below normal through Friday, with then climb closer to normal with mainly dry conditions returning to the region to begin the weekend," the weather service says.

The Wind Advisory is in effect for New London County from now until 6 p.m. tonight with gusts up to 50 mph. "Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected."
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the entire coast of Connecticut, which continues until Friday at noon.
WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "A very gusty day today! Keep your phone on a charger as there could be some scattered power outages. Also, it will be raining at times with a raw and chilly feel. High temperatures only in the 50s but feeling like 40s for much of the day! It gets a little bit better tomorrow with less rain. Cloudy skies with dry weather on Saturday followed by more sun and warmer temps on Sunday!
