NY Yankee Gerrit Cole Purchases $5.6M Mansion In Greenwich

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole recently purchased a stunning mansion in Greenwich for $5.6 million, according to a new report.

GREENWICH, CT — Not long after signing with the New York Yankees last year, pitcher Gerrit Cole has purchased a stunning new home in Greenwich for nearly $5.6 million, according to Realtor.com. Cole purchased the home, located roughly 30 minutes from Yankee Stadium, in February, however the real estate website reported the news this week.

According to Realtor.com, Cole's new home features a number of luxurious amenities, such as a gourmet kitchen and five bedrooms, including a luxurious master suite. Outdoor amenities include a heated saltwater pool, a spacious terrace and a dining area under a covered porch.

Cole signed with the Yankees in December, agreeing to a record-setting nine-year, $324 million contract, according to mlb.com. Prior to becoming a Yankee, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Houston Astros. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

With the future of the 2020 Major League Baseball season currently up in the air due to the new coronavirus, the ace pitcher appears to still be prepping while social distancing. Earlier this month, Cole posted on his Instagram account that he was practicing some "backyard baseball" with fellow Yankees pitcher Adam Ottavino, however it was unclear if this took place at his new home in Greenwich.

Prior to signing Cole, Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman fielded numerous questions from reporters, and fans, regarding the former Astros pitcher during a rappelling event in Stamford on Dec. 6. Before making his descent down one of the city's tallest buildings, Cashman was mum on any news about the team's future, including rumors regarding Cole.

"I'm not going to get a text at 6 or 7 a.m. today that says deal," Cashman said prior to the event. "We're open for business when we find mutual common ground with clubs or players and their representatives, so we're ready to rock and roll at anytime, but it just takes time unfortunately."

News of Cole's signing was announced less than two weeks later.
