GREENWICH, CT — While Greenwich Police receive respond to a number of criminal complaints each day, the department also handles a number of animal complaints over the course of a week. From loose pigs to sick raccoons, Greenwich officers have received some interesting, as well as some routine, reports.

Here is a roundup of some of the animal complaints, both domestic and wildlife, recently reported to Greenwich Police. All information was provided by the Greenwich Police Department.


Loose Pig

On Jan. 31, a loose pig was reported in the area of Talbot Lane and Byram Road. Officers later spoke with the owner, who said the pig had returned home safe.


Deceased Cat

On Jan. 31, officers responded to a domestic animal complaint in the area of Bible Street. Officers responded and located a dead cat in the roadway.


Barking Dog

On Jan. 31, officers responded to the area of Carrington Drive on a report of dogs barking, however officers could not detect any barking upon arrival.


Sick Raccoon

On Jan. 30, officers received a wildlife complaint in the area of Mary Lane. Officers responded and located a sick raccoon.

According to Lt. John Slusarz, most sick raccoons reported in town have been hit by a car, causing them to "wobble around."


Loose Dog

On Feb. 1, police received a report of a "brown or black" dog walking in the area of Indian Field Road and Mooring Drive. Officers responded but were unable to located the dog.


Raccoon Struck By Car

On Feb. 1, police received a report of a raccoon having been struck by a car in the area of Tods Driftway.


Dog Returns Home

On Feb. 2, police received a domestic animal complaint of a white dog walking along Riversville Road. According to Lt. John Slusarz, the dog returned home to its owner.


Deer Caught On Fence

On Feb. 2, police received a wildlife complaint of a deer caught on a "deer fence" in the area of Dingletown Road. According to Lt. John Slusarz, the deer broke its leg as a result of the incident.
