Powerful Nor'easter To Bring Dreary Weather For Days: CT Weather
A nor'easter will significantly impact Connecticut's weather for the next few days. Here's what you need to know.

CONNECTICUT — A powerful nor'easter is moving close enough to Connecticut that it will produce rain and heavy wind gusts for days. The storm will also result in temperatures only reaching into the 50s.
WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons noted in his forecast that the worst of the weather appears to be on Thursday due to increasing wind gusts and he cautioned that power outages could occur in some areas of the state.

Here we go.....winds are starting to kick around a bit and rain is spreading in from the east. We've issued a First Alert for lots of rain (1"-3") & winds (30-55 mph). Power issues/poor drainage flooding possible too. Nor'easter season is here....no snow with this one!! #NBCCT pic.twitter.com/2DPDpJ0rGU

The National Weather Service says, "A slow moving area of low pressure will result in unsettled weather through the end of the work week, with periods of rain and gusty northeast winds. Rain chances will increase from east to west this morning and continue through much of the daylight hours before diminishing briefly after sunset. Any dry weather will be shortlived, with rain chances increasing once again late tonight into the day on Thursday before gradually diminishing Thursday night.

"In addition to the rain, gusty northeast winds along the coast will increase from 25-35 mph today to 35-45 mph Thursday into Thursday night. The greatest impacts from both winds and rain are expected along the coast.... With plenty of cloud cover, daytime temperatures will remain below normal, with highs both today and Thursday only rising into the upper 50s to around 60. Overnight lows will range from the mid 40s north and west to around 50 at the coast, near normal for this time of year."
The US National Weather Service Boston MA, which specifically covers northern parts of Connecticut adds that, "A significant & potentially dangerous situation is unfolding which may catch some folks off guard as an early-season offshore ocean storm system develops. Plan accordingly & take action as necessary towards the protection of life & property. STRONG TO DAMAGING WINDS, potential for scattered power outages especially with trees remaining fully leaved."

"INLAND FLOODING, especially across E/SE MA and RI with the potential for urban, poor drainage flooding. The significant potential along the coast with high tides and forecast surge. COASTAL FLOODING, over several high tide cycles with a forecast 1.5 to 2.5 surge and waves building 15 to 25 feet on the outer waters."
Various weather models agree on some good soaking rain totals for #ctwx Connecticut. We need it. Less in NW CT for amounts. Have your rain gear on and make it a good day! #WTNHweather @WTNH pic.twitter.com/gaNpzWzbUQ

The silver lining is that the weekend weather forecast looks OK and is mainly dry but there could be a stray rain shower or two on Saturday.
While Connecticut will be on the breezy side the next two days, that wind will be stronger the farther east you go as a coastal storm sits offshore. Details on @Fox61news all morning! pic.twitter.com/Pmmf67tB9F
