Rachel Ray Nutrish Maker Sold By Greenwich Fund: Reports

L Catterton invested in the pet food manufacturer in 2014.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich-based investment firm L Catterton - and the family behind Ainsworth Pet Nutrition - have sold the pet food company to J.M. Smucker Co. for $1.7 billion, after a tax benefit of $200 million, reports Nasdaq.com and the Greenwich Time.

Ainsworth Pet Nutrition is the maker of the popular Rachel Ray Nutrish brand of pet food, which will be added to J.M. Smucker Co.'s other pet food brands, including 9 Lives and Gravy Train. L Catterton invested in the pet food manufacturer in 2014.

After the deal is closed, J.M. Smucker Co. anticipates that Ainsworth will generate about $800 million in the first year, according to Nasdaq.com.
