Ned Lamont said in a news release Friday. "Right now, unless you are required to travel, we are urging everyone to stay home and remain off the roads if you can until the storm passes and conditions improve."

Lt. John Slusarz of the Greenwich Police Department said the overnight hours were relatively quiet around town, but things are starting to pick up now.

"We did pretty well overnight, but now some flooding is occurring, especially in the Old Greenwich area," Slusarz said. "Overnight we had one or two trees come down and those got cleaned up pretty quickly, but right now the message from dispatch I just got is 'street flooding through Old Greenwich, some roads are not passable, fire department is handling a few flooded basements.'"
