Scholarship Fund Honors Late Greenwich HS Hockey Coach

Chris Rurak, who served as head coach for the past four years, died last week at the age of 47.

GREENWICH, CT — Following the passing of Greenwich High School hockey coach Chris Rurak, a scholarship fund has been established in his honor to benefit his sons, and annually benefit a student-athlete at the high school.

Rurak died last week at the age of 47. He was head coach of the team for the past four years.

"The Rurak family has partnered with the Greenwich Athletic Foundation and has established a scholarship fund in honor of Coach Rurak," the GAF wrote in an email to its community of supporters. "This fund will benefit the post secondary education of Chris' sons Christopher & Matthew. It will also enable an annual scholarship award to a GHS Student-Athlete. Coach would be so proud to know that his legacy, love for family and support for higher education is being met by this fund."
