Selectmen Consider Request To Adjust Parking Pass Late Fee
The change would institute a consistent late fee of $45 for the entire month of December. No vote was taken Thursday.

GREENWICH, CT ? The Board of Selectmen is considering a change to the late fee for parking passes that would institute a consistent fee for the whole month of December.
The board didn't take any action, and will likely revisit the item in two weeks.
Currently, a $25 late fee is assessed on top of the permit cost after the first half of December, and a $45 fee through Dec. 31.

Residents are notified at the beginning of October about the renewal process, which ends Nov. 30. Permits expire Dec. 31.
LuAnn Bellantoni, parking services business services manager for Greenwich, went before the board on Thursday with a request to amend the town Charter regarding the fee so that it reads better.

"It would be much clearer to the renewal person if there's one late fee that commences Dec. 1," she said. Bellantoni suggested that after the renewal period of Oct. 15 through Nov. 30, a late fee period would begin Dec. 1.
"What we'd like to do now is officially put in the Charter that the late fee commencing Dec. 1 through Dec. 31 is $45, one time, very clear without different date parameters," she said.
She said out of the 4,000 permit holders in town, approximately 95 percent of people pay during the renewal period before Dec. 1.
Bellantoni said "it's really a stress on our resources" when people wait until the last minute to renew.
"This seems reasonable," First Selectman Fred Camillo said of Bellantoni's request. "This seems to be in line with most towns."
The next scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting is July 28.
