Stolen Car Recovered In Bridgeport: Greenwich Police

The car was stolen in the early morning hours of June 1 when two subjects forcibly removed the occupant. The investigation remains ongoing.

GREENWICH, CT — Following a carjacking that occurred in the early morning hours of June 1 in Greenwich, police announced Wednesday that the stolen car was found abandoned in Bridgeport.

The car was stolen around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday on East Putnam Avenue near the intersection with Church Street, according to police. Two people approached a 2018 gray Mercedes Benz SUV and forcibly removed the occupant, who was asleep inside, and threw her to the ground. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result but refused medical treatment.

Police said the unknown subjects were wearing all black clothing and face masks, and were able to get away with the vehicle.

"The vehicle was located, abandoned, in Bridgeport, CT, a few hours later," police said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The Greenwich Police Department is now asking for the public's help as the investigation continues.
