Thousands Of Young People Vaccinated At Brunswick School Site
Greenwich Hospital and Yale New Haven Health reported high numbers of young people getting vaccinated at Brunswick School over the weekend.

GREENWICH, CT— The Brunswick School COVID-19 vaccination clinic was busy last weekend, as a total of 2,567 young people received shots.
More specifically, 1,921 children under age 16 were vaccinated, and 546 teenagers ages 16 and older received the Pfizer vaccine. This came on the heels of the federal government's recent decision to expand the use of the Pfizer vaccine to those age 12 and up.
Dr. Karen Santucci, who is a mother, pediatrician/pediatric emergency medicine physician and Greenwich Hospital's chief medical officer, said she is "beyond thrilled" to see the large number of children and teenagers line up to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"I'm proud of the outstanding efforts of all of the members of our vaccination team who have collectively worked around the clock for many months to bring this life saving vaccine to the community we serve and now to our children," she said.
First Selectman Fred Camillo said that the high vaccination number is part of a trend he's seeing in Greenwich.

"I'm starting to see more and more people who have been hesitant for one reason or another now getting ready to do it. We're moving along and this is a great piece of news for all of us and certainly encouraging to hear," Camillo said.
But Greenwich, and the country as a whole, are not out of the woods just yet. Camillo urged residents to keep their guard up.
"I have to keep reminding people that we're not there yet and to not let your guard down when you go out," Camillo said. "Be safe, bring your mask with you, and if you can keep a distance absolutely take it off, follow the CDC guidelines and you're good to go."
Camillo called this a "very exciting" time, with warm weather coinciding with the easing of most COVID restrictions in Connecticut beginning May 19.
"I just hope other people in other states do the same [and get vaccinated] because the virus doesn't know any borders," Camillo added.
