Westfair Singers Present 'Seeking Peace & Joy: A Concert'

From Westfair Singers: The Westfair Singers present their traditional spring concert, Seeking Peace & Joy, Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 PM at South Salem Presbyterian Church, 111 Spring Street, South Salem, NY. Under the accomplished direction of Mary Jane Newman, the women’s choral ensemble will offer an uplifting mix of beloved melodies and classical to contemporary choral and sacred works — including gospel and Scottish hymns.

Highlights will be: the special appearance of internationally celebrated composer/organist Dr. Anthony Newman, hailed as “The High Priest of Bach” by Wynton Marsalis; Westfair’s performance of Dr. Newman’s rousing One Thing I Ask; and the ensemble’s lovely harmonic blend. Flutist Brittany Cleary, the Greenwich High School senior who earned 1st Place in Westfair’s Judith HahnssenSchwab Founder’s Scholarship, will play Franz Doppler’s well-known Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroise.

Brittany Cleary, of Old Greenwich, CT, has a distinguished musical background which includes performances, as principle and soloist, with the Greenwich HS Wind Ensemble, the Western Regional Orchestra, and the All State Band; and serving as Vice President of the Tri-Music Honors Society. Beyond that, she is a Varsity athlete and Team Captain of GHS Cross Country and Track and Field Teams and an EMT with Greenwich Emergency Medical Services. She plans to study Biology and become a doctor.
