The 2020 GHS Field Hockey Team’s Moment to Shine
Play4TheCure or "Carwash4TheCure" – It's a Wash!

The Guilford High School field hockey team will once again unite to make a difference in the fight against cancer. For years, the team has held its annual Play4TheCure game in October. However, this year the world is faced with a global pandemic. The team decided to find an acceptable alternative to the traditional Play4TheCure game. This year they will hold a Carwash4TheCure on Sunday, September 13, 9:00am - 1:00pm at Palumbo’s Automotive. Proceeds will go to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
Play4TheCure is the sport fundraising program for the National Foundation for Cancer Research. The NFCR provides funding worldwide to the best scientists to enable cutting edge research that other large cancer organizations can’t or don’t fund. Play4TheCure inspires young athletes and their teams to leverage their passion for sports to “Play4” loved ones affected by cancer. The foundation encourages teams to actively participate in working to fund cancer research in order to make a difference.
The team will adhere to the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the State of Connecticut, the state Department of Public Health, the CIAC, the Town of Guilford and Guilford Public Schools. The 2020 field hockey team is passionate about making a difference in their community. Although faced with the challenge of COVID-19, they’re determined to continue to reach their goals through teamwork. This fundraising effort is important and the team is committed to continuing their chance to make a difference. Swing by and show your support, donations will be accepted in-person or by Venmo to the Guilford Stick Club treasurer, Cheryl (@Cheryl-Petonito).
