Connecticut Radiologists Honor Rep. Sean Scanlon
Scanlon is a local state representative who represents Guilford and Branford.
From the Connecticut General Assembly: The Radiological Society of Connecticut (RSC) has honored state Rep. Sean Scanlon (D – Guilford, Branford) for his leadership and accomplishments as House chair of the Insurance and Real Estate committee.
“Rep. Scanlon has always been available to discuss healthcare issues with our members. He is knowledgeable, effective and transparent, and we appreciate that very much. Patients are benefitting from his important work in the Connecticut General Assembly,” said David Klein, president of the RSC.
Scanlon has played a leading role in passing legislation that expands the range of breast cancer screenings that are available to patients as well as ensuring that patient safety comes first in limiting radiation for imaging tests such as CT Scan or MRI. He has also played an oversight role in the implementation of the important Certificate of Need law, which regulates the acquisition of complex imaging equipment.

As committee chair, Scanlon has promoted consumer reforms to health insurance and is known as a leading advocate for reducing rapidly rising prescription drug prices through initiatives that promote industry transparency and fairness to the consumer.
Scanlon is serving his third term in the Connecticut House, representing portions of Guilford and Branford. The award presentation was made by RSC at their semi-annual meeting in New Haven on Sept. 24.
