Guilford Cracks Top 5 In Final Field Hockey Coaches Poll

The Indians won their first state field hockey title in 21 years by besting Sacred Heart Academy 3-1 in the Class M finals Sunday.

GUILFORD, CT — A 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart Academy in the Class M finals placed Guilford High School fourth among voters in the final field hockey coaches poll for 2018.

The Indians won their third state field hockey title, but first since 1997, with their triumph Sunday at Wethersfield High School.

Staples was first in the balloting, receiving all eight first-place votes, while Class S champion Immaculate was second and Class L runner-up Cheshire was third.
