GUILFORD, CT — With a "vital" mission to improve traffic safety, the Guilford Police Department recently formed a Traffic Safety Unit to streamline the department's response to and handling of traffic safety related issues throughout town.
The Traffic Safety Unit will work toward the mission of improved traffic safety through various means, including the deployment of speed signs, completion of crash / speed studies, educational initiatives, and increased traffic enforcement. It is a goal of the Traffic Safety Unit to work within its own agency, as well as with other state and local agencies, to effect changes that will improve traffic safety town-wide in the future, police wrote on Facebook in announcing the new unit.
Police said the new traffic safety unit recently completed its first traffic enforcement operation on the night of Dec. 14 into Dec. 15.
