Guilford Reports 99 COVID-19 Cases In Last Week: First Selectman
Guilford First Selectman Matt Hoey noted that in mid-October, the town had a total of 145 cases. "We now have 702," he said.
GUILFORD, CT — First Selectman Matt Hoey announced Monday that there are 99 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last week. Currently, the town has a total of 659 confirmed and 43 probable cases. There have been 24 deaths, 20 in nursing homes.
Hoey noted that in mid-October, the town had a total of 145 cases, "We now have 702."
Hoey said the two-week rolling daily, new case rate per 100,000 people "has risen to an alarming rate of 43.4 when you consider that in late November we were under 15."

The first selectman also pointed out that a COVID-19 variant, first reported in the United Kingdom has been detected in Connecticut, and said the "strain is highly infectious."
"Now more than ever, it is imperative that we all wear masks, and wear them properly," he said.

"The wearing of a mask is an easy defense against spreading or catching the coronavirus, and one that we must all adhere to," he said.
