Guilford Schools Considering All-Day Kindergarten

Other school districts in the area have already added it, but Guilford is treading carefully.

The debate has begun in Guilford: should the town spend incorporate all-day kindergarten for all of its students?

The New Haven Register reports that the Board of Education is considering adding the program. However, they have reservations, as they said all-day kindergarten works better for students in the inner city than for suburban students, according to the newspaper.

“While the state momentum seems to be moving towards all-day kindergarten, the school board plans to look at it as thoroughly as it can to be considered in this year’s budget process,” Guilford Board of Education Chairman William Bloss told the New Haven Register. “The decision is fundamentally like most decisions, trying to look at available balances and benefits.”
