How did you come up with the name?

Our name, Malton Family Chiropractic was chosen because I wanted to emphasize the family aspect of our services. I’m passionate about helping people of all ages, but especially children. I also chose “family” because our practice members are cared for as if they were a part of our family...just ask them.

Why start a business in this town?

I started practice in Guilford because I fell in love with the town’s people, the beautiful Green, the excellent schools and the many places to trail run and hike which are passions of mine. I knew I wanted to practice and live in the same town and I couldn’t be happier with that choice. When I was looking for places to practice and I visited Guilford, the people I spoke with always had nothing but great things to say about living here.

What business are you in?

I’m in the business of helping people live happier and healthier lives. I do this through education and professional service. We focus on improving the structural integrity of the spine and nervous system and in so doing we improve the way the body performs/functions. We then teach people about how to maintain their good health.
The biggest challenge we have is in reaching more of the people who’s lives could literally be transformed if they were armed with the knowledge that our practice members have. You see, many people view chiropractic as something that is only for people with neck or back pain and/or an alternative to medical care. Unfortunately, this myopic point of view couldn’t be farther from the truth.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

My proudest moment since opening would have to be receiving a beautiful gift from a 9 year old child I had helped several years ago. He wanted to thank me for helping him heal from a serious set of problems he had experienced since birth. His condition had prevented him from participating in sports and many other activities. He’s now a star lacrosse and soccer player. I can’t get enough of seeing kids like him have the opportunity for a brighter future because of something we were able to contribute.

How does your business give back to the community?

Malton Family Chiropractic gives back to our community through a variety of community outreach programs. We regularly are invited into local businesses, schools and libraries to teach health and wellness programs. We have many campaigns that coordinate with the towns efforts such as our Pay It Forward campaign that collects supplies for the Guilford food bank during the holidays. We do a Teacher Appreciation Month in September, a school supply drive for needed children called Pack to School in August. We have a Pack for Your Back program we do to teach parents and kids about back pack safety. In addition, I’m a proud member of the Guilford Rotary Club and co-directory of the Rotary’s Frosty 5k New Year’s Day road race, which this year raised over $19,000 for local charities and scholarships.
