Hundreds of Dead Fish Popping Up on a River Bank in Guilford: Report

The issue has caused concern among local fisherman but the DEEP explains why it's happening.

GUILFORD, CT — Hundreds of dead fish have been popping up in the West River, which has led to concern locally, WTNH News 8 reports.

Local fisherman told News 8 that they were disturbed by the discovery and are confused as to why it's happening.

But the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection explained the situation is a lack of oxygen for the Menhaden fish and it causes them to suffocate.
