GUILFORD, CT — Long-time Guilford High School boys’ soccer coach Joe Maher resigned his position earlier this month, the Guilford Courier reports. He had been on the job since 1994.
He won two state championships in 1996 and 2000. Curtis Gullette is serving as the interim head coach, the Guilford Courier reports.
No reason was cited for the mid-season resignation but Athletic Director Jake Jarvis told GameTimeCT.com that "He’s an exceptional coach and a great guy. I’m very grateful for the time he put into this program. I would think any time you lose someone in the beginning or the middle of the season, you’re surprised.”
