Man Tried To Harm Himself, Child, Held On $250K Bond: Guilford PD

Police responded to the train tracks on a report of a man who was attempting to harm himself and a child, police said.

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Police Department along with the Guilford Fire Department and Amtrak Police Department responded to the area of the Guilford Train Station Friday evening for the report of an adult man and child on the tracks, police said.

Further information was received by responding officers that the adult man was attempting to harm himself and the child, police said. As officers were checking the area, the man fled into the marsh with the child, police said.

He was located shortly thereafter by officers and was taken into custody without further incident, police said. Both the man and child were not injured, but were taken to the hospital for further evaluation, police said. Service on Shoreline East was interrupted for a short time, police said.

The man was identified as Ari Gejdenson, 38, of Maryland, and police said he will be charged with risk of injury, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with police, first-degree trespassing and first-degree attempted assault. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
