Obituary: Guido Dobrila, 81, of Guilford​

A tug boat worker for years, he also worked for Guilford in public works, as a volunteer firefighter and as the senior center's bus driver.

Tuesday, June 29, 2021 Guido Dobrila longtime resident of Guilford passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Husband of Gemma M. (Viskovic) Dobrila. Mr. Dobrila was born in Ĺ umber, Croatia on September 12, 1939, son of the late Peter and Maria (Licul) Dobrila. Loving father of Alida Dobrila of Virginia Beach, VA and Valdy Dobrila of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Otelo Dobrila of Astoria, Queens, and predeceased by his brother, Bruno Dobrila also of Astoria.

Before retirement Guido worked on Tug Boats for almost 20 years and 13 years at the Guilford Public Works. He was a Guilford Volunteer Fireman for 28 years with the Washington Engine Company #1. During retirement he was a bus driver for Guilford Senior Center. Guido enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending countless hours in his vegetable garden, walking and working in the woods, and watching his beloved Yankees beat the Red Sox.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on the Thursday July 8th at 11 am in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford. Burial will be held privately.
