Obituary: Josephine (Mancini) Fessel, 96, of Guilford
A Guilford native, she enjoyed many hobbies and also was a fan of several New England sports teams, most notably UCONN women's basketball.

Josephine (Mancini) Fessel, 96, of Guilford, passed peacefully, due to congestive heart failure, at 3:45PM on April 15, 2021 at her son’s home in Chesterfield, Virginia. She was born in Guilford, January 25, 1925. She is the youngest of eight children of Joseph and Carmela Mancini of Guilford.
Early in her life, she worked for the New Haven Clock Company as a technician and later at Flexible Tubing, as a seamstress, located in Guilford. She was married to Theodore F. Fessel, Sr. and they made their home in Guilford for over 60 years. She is mostly remembered as a very supportive wife to Ted as he pursued many activities as a volunteer in many local organizations. He passed on April 29, 2019 at the age of 92. After her husband’s passing, she enjoyed her remaining years living in Virginia with her family.

During life, she enjoyed many hobbies and also was a fan of several New England sports teams, most notably the UCONN Women’s Basketball team.
Josephine is survived by her son, Captain (USN-Ret.) Theodore F. Fessel, Jr. of Chesterfield, Virginia, his wife Cathy Reed Fessel; her grandson’s, Reed and Tristan Fessel; Reed’s wife, Stacey and great- granddaughters Maddix, Addison and Avery and Tristan’s wife, Katie all living in Virginia. She also has numerous nephews and nieces living in the greater Guilford area.

Josephine is a member of St. George’s Church and she will be buried at the St. George’s Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service Saturday, April 24 at 11 am. Prior to the graveside service, the immediate family will have a private memorial service conducted in Chesterfield, Virginia.
