Tuesday, May 25, 2021 Paul Dostie, lifelong resident of Guilford passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Paul was the loving husband of Jeanne Dostie and perfect father to his daughters Kristen, Allison, and Paige. Paul was born on February 18, 1962 to Mr. Gerald Dostie and Ms. Margaret (Betty) Dostie. He is survived by his sister Linda Kelly (and her husband Chris Kelly), his brothers Gerald (Gene) Dostie Jr., and Brian Dostie (and his wife Kristine Gelo Dostie) as well as his father’s current wife, Anne Dostie. Paul is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews who he truly considered to be his brothers, sisters, and children. He was soon to become the father-in-law of Kristen’s fiancé Dylan Laprise. Paul was predeceased by and has been reunited with his mother Margaret (Betty) Dostie.
Many know Paul as the owner of the family business Jerry’s Transmission Service. He loved his job for many reasons, but most of all it gave him a chance to work alongside his brother Brian, and to provide a service to the community he grew up in and loved so much.
In his earlier years, Paul was an integral part of the Dostie racing team, where he helped his father Jerry build and maintain the race cars. One of Paul’s favorite hobbies was mountain biking, and he competed in several races throughout Connecticut. He had a competitive spirit, but mostly enjoyed riding local trails with his friends.
Some of Paul’s favorite memories were the times he spent vacationing on Nantucket with his family. He loved kayaking and barbeques on the beach while watching the sun go down. Paul also loved to reminisce about the time he spent in Africa on Safari with his family, where he made a spiritual connection on that trip and hoped to return one day. Paul also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures of mowing the lawn, building bonfires in the backyard, and sitting in his favorite Adirondack chairs with his loved ones.
Paul loved to make his home a welcoming space for his friends and family to gather, share stories, and laugh together. Above all, Paul was a devoted husband and father; he loved watching his kids play soccer and run track and field. He spent countless weekends running from one sporting event to the next and loved every minute cheering his girls on. He will be missed by his family and the many lives he impacted so positively.
