They got to the house at 10:15 a.m., 10 minutes later, the baby was born. While mom did most of the work, firefighters were there to help.

GUILFORD, CT — These firefighters may be unofficial godfathers to brand new baby girl Niobe Ren.

Last Saturday morning, Guilford firefighters were called to a home for a report of a "patient who was in active labor."

When firefighter/paramedics got there, it turned out that the baby's birth was likely imminent.

The four firefighters helped mom Maya "as she successfully gave birth to a beautiful baby girl."

Ten minutes after they arrived, baby Niobe Ren was born.

"With little or no time to spare, the baby was delivered at 10:25," firefighters said, adding that as it was an "exciting time for the newborns' father, firefighters prepared the umbilical cord to be cut by him."

Both parents and newborn infant were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and all was well.

Wednesday, guess who came to the firehouse for a thank you visit.

The family that Guilford firefighters helped with the delivery of their newborn daughter stopped by the firehouse.

"It was a treat to see newborn baby Niobe Ren and her family," firefighter/paramedic Chris Jones said.
