Panera Bread Opening Nears At Guilford Commons Shopping Center
Panera spokesperson says the restaurant has an opening date in mind and it might be sooner than most realize.
GUILFORD, CT - Those anxiously awaiting the opening of Panera Bread at Guilford Commons shopping complex only have a few more weeks to wait.
Work on the restaurant has ramped up in recent days and Patch reached out to the company to try and pin down a specific opening date.
The response Patch received was: “We are excited to confirm we plan to open our new Guilford Panera bakery-café in July. We will be sure to follow up with more specific details regarding the new cafe, once available.”

The July opening jives with what Economic Development Coordinator Brian McGlone also told Patch.
“I keep hearing mid-July,” McGlone said, who added: “seems likely with how quick they are moving.”

A check at the site Monday found a half-dozen trucks parked at the site working on various aspects. There was also a sign looking for workers for the restaurant.
Besides Panera, the town's biggest shopping complex recently added Mattress Firm (a move from Route 1 near Exit 59), and Pure Barre, an exercise studio.
