Registration Ends 10/30 for English Classes w/ Shoreline Adult Ed

English and computer classes are free for residents of Branford, Clinton, Guilford, and North Branford

(Guilford, CT)- Students from over 50 countries participate in the English for Speakers of Other languages (ESOL) programs offered by Shoreline Adult Education. This Fall, three classes are being offered to non-English speakers of all levels to help them better comprehend, speak, write and use English at work and in their daily lives. Individual career counseling and employment preparation are available to all students. Registration ends on October 30.

Foundations of ESOL

Students will learn how to navigate everyday experiences of life in the United States, as well as its history, culture, holidays and current events. Small class sizes and interactive lessons provide plenty of opportunities to practice what you learn.

Foundations of ESOL + Technology: Learn English and Computer Skills

This course combines English language instruction with civics education and the skills needed for employment in our tech-driven world. Certification and technology skills training are included through the Northstar Digital Literacy and Google Applied Digital Skills platforms.

Foundations of ESOL for Families

Students will learn to better comprehend, speak, write and use English in their daily lives, while also developing the skills needed to support their child's physical, emotional and academic growth. In our adult classes, students will learn English important to parents with young and school-aged children. At the same time, children will learn English and socialize in a fun, play-based learning environment.

Who is Eligible to Enroll?

Participants must be 17 years of age or older. Classes are free to residents of Branford, Clinton, Guilford, and North Branford. Individuals outside of the four-town region may register for a small non-refundable fee of $50 per semester/$75 per year if space in the program is available. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all classes will begin online and may transition to in-person classes based on guidance from the local school district and the State Department of Education.
