5 Guilford Students Injured After Truck Hits School Bus : UPDATE

The accident occurred Friday morning. and five students were treated at the hospital for minor injuries, authorities said.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford police are now saying that five high school students were injured in an early morning school bus crash on Friday morning.

Here is the latest info on the crash, according to a Guilford police press release as of noon on Friday:

On June 7, 2019, at approximately 0705 hours the Guilford Police and Fire departments responded to the area of 4985 Durham Road for a pick-up truck versus school bus accident.

The initial investigation has determined that the pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Durham Road.

The school bus was traveling southbound on Durham Road. The pick-up truck impacted the school bus on the left side, causing the rear of the school bus to rotate off the roadway and strike a large tree. Nine students were on board the school bus. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The Guilford Board of Education was notified and representatives were on scene. The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles was also notified.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Status Update: A total of five students were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
