St. George Men's Group Hosts Guilford Lakes Charity Golf Tournaments

Those who get a hole-in-one on the sixth-hole could win a 2016 Lincoln MKZ.

The St. George Men’s Group will be hosting it’s third-annual Guilford Lakes Charity Golf Tournaments Saturday, Sept. 12 at Guilford Lakes Golf Course, according to a press release. The nine-hole par three course is located on 200 Madison Rd. in Guilford.

For player’s convenience, there will be two tournaments on the same day, the release says. The first one starts at 7:30 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m.

Even though the course is only nine holes, players go around twice to playa total of 18 holes, the release says.

It’s a scramble start, and it’s also best ball, the release says. Both tournaments are followed by a choice of steak or chicken, sides, beer, wine, soda and water.

Participation in a putting contest is offered, as well as a raffle and closest to the pin contest, the release says.

New this year is the chance to win a 2016 Lincoln MKZ, two-year pre-paid lease, complete with property tax, the release says. It can be won by getting a hole-in-one on the sixth-hole.

Cost to participate is $85 of which a portion is tax deductible, the release says.

Proceeds will go toward two charities: St. Martin de Porres Academy of New Haven, who provides quality tuition-free education to children in need from fifth- to eighth-grade, the release says. They then follow up with their graduates to high school with a current graduation rate of 100 percent. After that they assist them for college, the military, and the trades. The second charity is The Guilford Fund for Education, which enhances the education of students in Guilford.

The St George Men’s Group openly invites all to come out and join them on one of last days of summer, the release says.
