Teens In Stolen Police Cruiser Robbed Purse In Guilford: Police

These teens were responsible for a purse theft in Guilford Wednesday morning, and car entries and thefts in neighboring towns, police said.

GUILFORD, CT — Two teenagers were arrested after two West Haven police officers were injured Wednesday when they were struck by a stolen police cruiser police said was driven by one of the teenagers as they attempted to flee from authorities.

Now, Guilford police say the teenagers are responsible for a purse snatching in the town as well as several attempted car break-ins.

"Today we count our blessings that 2 West Haven Officers will recover from their injuries sustained when several teens went on a violent crimes spree in stolen cars, committing purse thefts at the gas pumps and other robberies along the shoreline, ultimately ending in one of those teens running over those officers. These teens were responsible for a purse theft in Guilford this morning and other car entries and thefts in neighboring towns.

These teens are not the only ones committing these crimes. There are many others. Over the last few days they have upped their game with stealing purses from unlocked cars while vehicle owners are pumping gas. This is nothing new, but let this be a reminder to even lock your car while you are pumping gas. Place items of value like purses and wallets out of sight."

As reported by Patch, around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, West Haven police were notified by another department that a stolen vehicle was seen exiting I-95 by Exit 43 and entering the city. The vehicle has been used in several robberies and purse snatches along the shoreline communities in the state over the past several days, according to West Haven police Sgt. Patrick Buturla.
