UPDATE: Impact from Fast Moving Storm Still Impacting Guilford

GUILFORD, CT - Guilford police issued an update Wednesday morning on the number of roads impacted by Wednesday’ storm and how it impact this morning’s commute.

Here is that update:

***Update at 6:30am on 5/16/18***

Adding 300 Rockland Rd to the list of closures with a tree and wires blocking the road. The Northbound lane of Durham Rd is closed just North of RT 77 (Durham Rd) in the 2400 and 2600 block. Southbound is open for travel.
Please remain cautious during the morning commute and call us with any other problem areas that were not noticed last night. 203-453-8061

Update at 11:30pm 5/15/18:
DPW is working with an Eversource Crew through the night to make theses locations safe. Both areas of Durham Road should be open to one lane of traffic by the morning commute. We will have an update in the morning.

From Tuesday night, police said this:

North Guilford took a HUGE hit with this storm... just 2 photos of the many trees down. DPW is out taking care of all the trees down that don’t involve wires. Please treat all wires as live and be aware that electrical currents can carry through the ground especially with the wet conditions. Please stay away from all lines down. If you are walking and feel your legs start to tingle, walk in the other direction and call us to report please. We want to make sure everyone stays safe.

Current road closures with wires and trees as of 7:45pm on 5/15/18:

2400 Durham Rd -trees and wires blocking road
2600 Durham Rd - trees and wires blocking road
147 Barnshed Lane - trees/wires/pole snapped/transformer in road/ road blocked
1300 West St - tree and wires blocking road
1200 West St -tree and wires blocking road
1200 Great Hill Rd -tree and wires blocking road
1500 Great Hill Rd - tree and wires blocking road
Great Hill at Cooks Lane -tree and wires blocking road
3000 Long Hill Road- pole bending but passable
1400 Hoop Pole Rd - tree resting on wires but passable
300 Rockland Rd - tree with wires blocking

Eversource has been notified on all of these known areas and we will continue to update. At this time we have no ETA for Eversource crews to the area. The Guilford Fire Department is still out with the tree and pole on fire in the 2400 block of Durham Rd.
