Berlin Resident Participates In Komen Cancer Race
Donna M. Bovee, a Berlin resident and breast cancer survivor, will participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on June 3.

From Susan G. Komen: Donna M. Bovee, Vice President/Treasurer of Photronics, Inc. and Berlin, Connecticut resident, is participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on June 3rd to support local breast health programs, ongoing breast cancer research and education.
This will be Bovee’s second Race for the Cure and she will walk it with her team “Saving Our Mamas’ Tatas.” She will have 25 people walking with her on June 3rd and looks forward to many years to come supporting research and critical needs in Connecticut.
Bovee has HER2 breast cancer. When she was diagnosed, the cancer came on quickly and aggressively, devastating her, “I had some very tough days thinking about the future and my family. It seemed every time I got down, someone picked me up and helped me with regaining a positive outlook,” she remembers.

Bovee’s inspiration to participate in the Race stems from a desire for everyone affected by cancer to have access to the medical, emotional and spiritual support she has found in her journey. “Life is so precious,” she said.
When asked why it is important for people to participate in the Race for the Cure, Bovee replied, “The Komen race has made a huge difference in the research strides made over the past years. People are being diagnosed sooner, life expectancies are increasing and treatments are more focused and gentler than they were many years ago. Your money is not wasted when you donate to the Race for the Cure."
