Bloomfield Sweeps Class S Track Championships

NEW HAVEN, CT — Athletes from Bloomfield High School took first place in 10 events Friday at the Class S Indoor Track and Field Championships, enabling the Warhawks to handily sweep the boys and girls team competition.

The boys compiled 111 points to 51 for runner-up Haddam-Killingworth to snare their second straight Class S crown, while the girls outdistanced Old Saybrook by an 83-60.25 margin to win for the 11th consecutive season.

One new Class S record was established in the shot put, as Michael Campbell of Bloomfield unleashed a heave of 59 feet, 4.5 inches to destroy the prior mark of 55-7, set by Enis Bukalo of Derby in 2010.
