Demorse Kelley was sentenced for assaulting a USPS employee, according to federal prosecutors.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for assaulting a United State Postal Service employee, according to a statement from Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Demorse Kelley, 39, of Hartford, will also serve three years of supervised release.

According to prosecutors, a USPS letter carrier was sorting mail inside her postal delivery van parked on Sigourney Street in Hartford. Kelley approached the van from the sidewalk, slid the side door of the van so that it was fully open, and then spoke to the letter carrier.

He commented on the letter carrier's appearance, then asked her for a hug and for her phone number. He then climbed into the postal van and allowed the door to close behind him. Kelley touched the letter carrier’s leg below her shorts, made sexual advances, and wouldn't let her leave.
