Bullet Holes Found In CT Capitol Building Tuesday

Police are investigating after multiple bullet holes were spotted in the Capitol Building.

HARTFORD, CT —Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating after three bullet holes were found in the Capitol building Tuesday morning, according to media reports including Fox 61. One of the bullet holes was in the glass of one of the windows.

No injuries were reported. The Connecticut Mirror reports that a lamp and window were struck by bullets and the damage was found early Tuesday. The Mirror reports that the gunfire was detected by Hartford Police Department's Shotspotter system and that the shooting occurred early Tuesday.

The shooting had no impact on government business, according to reports.

State Capitol Police said the bullet holes were found on the Capitol Avenue side of the State Capitol Building, according to a notification sent to staff and lawmakers and as shared by WTNH News 8's Jodi Latina on Twitter. Capitol Avenue is closed between the 84 ramps and Washington Street. State Capitol Police stressed that there is no reason to believe there is any danger. However, there will be extra officers on Tuesday.
